What is Abon Jambrong?
It was originally a traditional Betawi Depok’s food, to be served as a companion or add on meal for
everyday eatery. They simply call it Jambrong or Ikan Abong. It was made from Jeprox salted fish,

We had been introduced to Jambrong in 2007, when we have projects in Tanah Baru, Depok area. Its
unique taste and appealing name had made us asked our friend to cook it regularly for us. We usually
had Jambrong as a topping to our favorite nasi uduk, lontong sayur, bubur, instant noodle, nasi goreng,
or even to plain steamed rice.
Starting just before Idul Fitri 2014, we tried to make Jambrong, modified here and there, put it more
styles, and packed it as a floss, a fish floss! And we named it Abon Jambrong Unia. At first, we cooked
our Abon Jambrong only to serve as a Lebaran gift to our relatives. It came to surprise for us, they were
not only like it, but also ask to order more from us.
A simple cook in our kitchen had turned into a more serious small home industry now. We hit our 1000
packs in only five weeks. To date, alhamdulillaah we have already reached our 5000 packs of Abon
Jambrong. A two persons one-time cook had become a ten persons production team now.
At first, we promoted and sold our Abon Jambrong Unia mainly through social media: Facebook, Twitter
and Instagram. Now, we also had direct resellers to partnering our reach to direct costumers.
Alhamdulillah our Abon Jambrong Unia had reached almost every area across Indonesia, from Aceh,
Medan, Bukittinggi, Padang, Pekanbaru, Jambi, Palembang, Bandar Lampung, Pontianak, Balikpapan,
Samarinda, Jabodetabek and all big cities in Java, Madura, Denpasar, Lombok, Makassar, Parepare and
Manado. Our Abon Jambrong Unia by hand carry of our buyers, had also reached Singapore, Kuala
Lumpur, Hong Kong, Japan, Amsterdam, Canada, Paris, San Diego, Los Angeles, New York and San
We realized that we have so many home works to do to perfect our fish floss, with one goal, to serve
